Quarter Finals

WITTERING PREMIAIR VS EUNICE HUNTINGDON

Bring on the Quarter Finals. Saturday embarks the beginning of the knock out rounds in the COVID Cup. It’s been a short successful season for The Harriers in what would have been an attractive league campaign. Topping this off with a Semi Final or Final appearance in the cup, with teams also competing from the Peterborough Prem, would be the icing on the cake for Manager Sam Cayley. This weekend’s opponents are division 1 rivals Eunice, the two sides have clashed four times in the last two seasons. The Harries have won two of these fixtures with an aggregate of 19 – 3 but its fair to say, this side of Eunice will not be expected on Saturday. Eunice finished their league campaign somewhat disappointedly but the reintroduction of Adrian Mizia has seen them claim victories in the cup against Peterborough favourites Netherton. The Harries have a few returning players themselves after recent injuries and look confident in naming a full squad. With the game in Wittering and fortress still proving difficult for all opposition, I find it hard to not see a certain Wittering Premiair strikers name in lights for this game.

Cup Competitions

EYE UNITED VS WITTERING PREMIAIR

A battle for top spot as the group comes to a close. Anything bar a defeat will see The Harriers top Group B and secure the more favourable tie in the Quarter Finals. The winners of this fixture will see themselves pitted against Div 1 outfit Eunice Huntingdon, with home advantage, whilst the losers will face a tough trip to Moulton. All to play for and certainly this weekends stand out fixture.

WELDON UNITED VS WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES

With the Reserves all but out of the COVID cup, its an away day in Corby on Saturday to face Weldon Utd. This is the first meeting of the two sides and with the repercussions of last Saturdays absolute referring debacle now in force. It will be a difficult task for The Harriers who are short on numbers. A good war cry needed from the manager James Langford to keep themselves in with a small chance of progression into the knockout rounds.

WITTERING PREMIAIR A VS ORTON RANGERS

Its a showdown for the A Team. Qualification is possible thanks to a resurge in form by Dan Hook and his men. The A Team are required to better Peterborough City's result. A Peterborough City win and the A Teams chances of qualification are extinguished. Pboro City unfortunately face bottom side Tydd Reserves, who are without a point. Eyes will also need to be on teams behind, Stilton Reserves who currently occupy 4th but with the same point as The Harrier but a goal difference of 2 less. Not forgetting tomorrows opposition themselves, the inly division 2 side in the group and will secure qualification themselves with a win and Peterborough City & Stilton Reserves lose. What a group, what a final day. Come on The Harriers

20210507191123.jpg

WITTERING PREMIAIR B VS HUNTINGDON TOWN DEVELOPMENT

The B Team will be looking for the W against the groups runaway leaders, to keep their own plans of making the knockouts on track. George will be hoping last Saturday was merely a blip in the road to what otherwise should be routine qualification for his young side. Tomorrows opposition are a league above and finished in a similar top half table position. A win is needed but hard to expect from this fixture, confounded by Huntingdon strong start. The Harriers with it all to do but are certainly capable.

WITTERING PREMIAIR VS WHITTLESEY ATHLETIC RESERVES

It’s a top of the table clash Saturday. Two teams with a 100% record so far, Whittlesey sitting in top spot after their 5 – 0 demolition of Ketton last Saturday. Eyes are on the groups top goal scorer Dean Giglio who returns to Wittering after a short, difficult spell earlier this season. The prolific striker will surely have more than 1 score to settle as he faces his former team mates. The two teams did come face to face in October, Wittering Premiair coming out 4-1 winners thanks to goals from their very own deadly duo Lee Croft & Andrew Moss, both available for this weekends fixture. The neutrals can expect goals here I believe, with Whittlesey’s much improved squad since they last played its difficult to separate them, little return backing the score draw.

20210423085613.jpg

FC HAMPTON VS WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES

The Reserves travel to the City based side, Hampton this weekend. The Reserves are coming off their bye week, hopefully fresh and eager to maintain their good start to the campaign. Hampton similarly put the sword to bottom placed side Parkside last weekend after sharing the points in their first fixture at home to Kings Cliffe Reserves. When these two teams faced up last December it was a cagey affair, the game going the way of this weeks visitors in the last half hour of the game. The Harriers are without Isaac Twigden this week a game changer off the bench for the Reserves in their last match against Parkside. It could be another cagey affair, but with the fixture boasting the groups 2 top goal scorers, both having coming off hat tricks in their latest game Ben Calvo (Wittering Premiair Reserves) and Kris Kefford (FC Hampton), maybe we should expect more goals? Bookies favouriting The Harriers here but with good returns.

WITTERING PREMIAIR A VS STILTON RESERVES

The A Team are still searching for their first win. This weekend’s opposition doesn’t come any easier as they plan to host Stilton Reserves. Stilton finished well in the league, finishing 4th but well within the mix of the top 3 and comfortably beat the A Team in this same fixture in October. The Harriers will be looking to ensure they don’t go down without another fight and cling to any optimism of progressing into the knockout stages. Anything but a win tomorrow would unfortunately all but seal their fate, can The Harriers hope for a return to form from their front three? Bookies have it safe with a Stilton victory but we all know, anything can happen in football.

FIXTURES

Cup Competitions

WITTERING PREMIAIR VS WARBOYS TOWN

All clubs this Saturday will show a mark of respect for Prince Phillip, meaning the 1st team will host Warboys Town at an earlier kick off of 12.30. Both teams began their COVID cup campaigns spritely, picking up results again oppositions in the league above. The Harries humorously, accordingly to some sources in Stamford, secured a smash and grab against Ketton, while Warboys respectfully shared the points at home against a strong Eye United side. The two sides have met earlier this season with The Harriers securing all 3 points in a very hard fort 3-2 win. Warboys are not to be taken lightly, they come with determination and a lot of steel. The game is to be played at the fortress which has proved formidable in recent years for The Harries, the bookies edge this one in the home teams favour.

WITTERING PREMIAIR A VS CARDEA RESERVES

This Saturday embarks a new beginning for the A Team after the sudden departure of Steven Colangelo. The club thanks Dan Hook for stepping in as interim boss until the end of the season. Dan faces an up-hill task with a very limited squad selection available to him and against a Cardea Reserves team jubilant after a good comeback, which secured a draw against group favourites Orton Rangers. These two division 3 sides did not come face to face in the league but boasted a very similar final points tally and finished 7th & 8th respectively. Dan will need his squad to come together and work extremely hard from the outset if they’re to pick up anything from this game. Cardea come with a potent attacking line scoring the 2nd highest amount of goals in the league. It’s a Cardea Reserves win on paper.

HOLBEACH BANK FC VS WITTERING PREMIAIR B

The B Team travel to Holbeach to finally begin their start of the COVID cup. The B Team have unfortunately already experienced one casualty within their group, as NECI Reserves have removed themselves from the competition before it’s began. With a small 5 team group the B Team will be looking to make every game count. Saturday it’s Holbeach Bank, which appears to seems to indicate nothing but a Wittering Premiair win. Holbeach Bank have again struggled this season in the division but are unknown opponents for the B Team. Despite finishing at opposite ends of the same division the two sides were yet fixtured to play one another. The Harries finished their season strongly with 4 wins from their last 5 however were way too complacent against similar opposition Hampton ‘A’ on the final day. George Greaves will be looking  to rally his squad whilst reminding them of this over complacency and proving why they are heavy priced favourites for this fixture.

KETTON VS WITTERING PREMIAIR

The 1st team travel to Prem side Ketton for their opening fixture of the Peterborough Senior Cup. The two sides met preseason, which ended in a comfortable win for The Harriers. Despite a poor start to their league campaign, Ketton finished their season rejuvenated with back to back 4-0 win’s, their first of the season. The Harries on the other hand, have had 4 months to dwell on what could have been a perfect season. 10 wins from 10 and a 100% record was laid to rest with their final game prior to the latest lockdown, a 3-2 defeat against FC Peterborough. Will the hunger of the Div 1 side be enough to stop this sprite looking Ketton team, the bookies have this one as a draw.

IMG-20210408-WA0004.jpg

WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES VS PARKSIDE

The Reserves welcome Parkside in what will be their first return to football since December’s lockdown, in The Peterborough Junior Cup. 8 places separated the two sides at the end of the season however this is not to be overshadowed by Parkside’s 4-2 victory vs The Reserves, early December. The Harriers will have to shake the cobwebs quickly to get the desired result on Saturday but add to the mix the desire of a revenged result, The Reserves are the bookies favourites here to start their Cup campaign with a win.

IMG-20210408-WA0005.jpg

PETERBOROUGH CITY VS WITTERING PREMIAIR A

The A Team have been grateful for an all Division 3 preliminary group stage, for this seasons Peterborough Junior Cup. Saturdays fixture pit them against Peterborough City. The two sides failed to meet before the decision to end this seasons league competition however P’Boro City boosting a similar record to the A team finished two points and two places higher. The Harries return full strength but the City side finished unbeaten in their last 4 and picking up results vs two sides The Harries were recently defeated by, it could be anyone’s game. Its difficult to look past the front 3 of Wittering Premiair but the City side offer goals from all areas of the pitch. Its close but the bookies just edge it in favour of the away team.

Week 9

WITTERING PREMIAIR VS PETERBOROUGH NORTHERN STAR RESERVES

The First's are at home to PNS Reserves this weekend. A fixture that on paper has the First's as the favorites with top versus 2nd bottom. PNS Reserve's start has been unexpected as they boast a first team in the UCL and have some well know players at this level. If the First's let up professionalism and application this fixture could be a potential banana skin. Having said that nothing less than 3 points are expected.

20201029105540.jpg

GLINTON & NORTHBOROUGH VS WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES

The Reserves go into Saturday's game on the back of 3 wins from 4 and 100% away record. Glinton who's recent fortunes haven't been as progressive after their unbeaten start to the season. The tie is a top half clash with The Harriers sat 7th and Glinton 3rd. It should be a great spectacle for the neutrals.

20201029105739.jpg

WITTERING PREMIAIR A VS KINGS CLIFFE RESERVES

A rip roaring September has been followed by a dismal October results wise for the A team and they encounter a Kings Cliffe Reserves side who after opening with 5 straight defeats seem to have turned a corner with 2 win in the last 3. The A team have thus far been accommodating hosts as well by losing both encounters without scoring.
The a win on the final day of October should set up a run of very winnable games in November

20201029105859.jpg

KINGS CLIFFE A VS WITTERING PREMIAIR B

Since the temporary charge of current manager George Greaves, the B Team have seen their fortunes improve. Back to back wins in George's first two games have seen the B Team climb into the top half of the table. A favorable fixture vs Kings Cliffe A this weekend who only find themselves with 4 points from their opening 6 games. Surely the hot streak will continue?

20201029110453.jpg

WITTERING PREMIAIR VETS VS DEEPING UTD VETS

Wittering Premiair go into their next league game in confident fashion having narrowly gone down in a friendly against top flight Yaxley a fortnight ago. Wittering Premiair will be looking to build upon their confidence boosting win in their opening league match and will be looking to record back to back clean sheets for the first time. The top scorer for the league for the season is expected to come from this team so personal bragging rights are at stake once again. With some ambitious goals set out for the team by the gaffer at the start of the season there is no time to rest on laurels and a big performance is once again duly expected.

Week 6

20201009130747.jpg

CROWLAND TOWN RESERVES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR

The Harries look to continue their rich vein of form as they travel to Crowland Town Reserves this weekend. The team is boosted by a full squad selection as a few players have been able to shake some recent niggling injuries. This is the first time the two sides have met in recent history but with Wittering’s impressive record of 2/2 against the league champions and Crowland’s 1st team last season. The team and onlookers will be expecting the winning streak to continue Saturday

WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES VS LONG SUTTON RESERVES

The Reserves come off the back of an impressive derby win last weekend, whilst also recording their first clean sheet of the season.  The Reserves haven’t faced this weekend’s opposition since their division 4 winning campaign in 2016/17, where they took maximum points from the Spalding based team. They say time is a wonderful healer but I fully expect the Reserves to be going into this one with the view of 3 points and closing in on the positions above.

WELDON UNITED VS WITTERING PREMIAIR A

An unfortunate reality check for the A team last weekend as the division’s top scorers and leading the league before kick off, were put to the sword to a strong also unbeaten Stilton Reserves. This weekend the task doesn’t come any easier as they travel to Corby to face Weldon United, whom benefited from the A teams defeat and took top spot. With the City side conceding as often as Weldon have found the back of the net after the first 5 games, this is surely one that will go down as shootout of who can outscore the opposition.

20201009131859.jpg

WITTERING PREMIAIR B VS SUTTON BRIDGE FC

In Division 5 the Wittering Premiair B team host reformed Sutton Bridge. Sutton Bridge has started their campaign in good form with 4 wins and 1 draw. The B Team narrowly lost out to Rippingale and Folkingham 2-1 last weekend and in what’s been a bit of a yo-yo start to the season,  they will come out with heads raised high and believing a bounceback result is yet again capable.

FIXTURES

Week 5

WITTERING PREMIAIR VS MOULTON HARROX RESERVES

Its a tasty top of the table clash in division 1 this weekend. Moulton visit Wittering with both teams boasting an unbeaten record currently. Last seasons encounters between the two clubs brought the neutrals some entertaining football. Both teams picking up victory in their respected home ties. Can Moulton stop the Harrier's exceptional run at home or can the boys extended their lead to 3 points at the top of the table?

20201002095043.jpg

STAMFORD BELS RESERVES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES

After last weekends miserable defeat, the reserves will be looking to bounce back with a much more respectable performance. Stamford have started their season in a similar style with 1 win, 1 draw and 2 defeats and only sit above The Harriers alphabetically. Which way this will go, whose to know. The two teams haven't faced each other since 17/18 season with Premiair coming out on top in both fixtures.

WITTERING PREMIAIR A VS STILTON RESERVES

Another top of the table clash for a Wittering team in division 3. The A Team host for the first time this season against unbeaten outfit, Stilton. Stilton has started well, beating lower opposition Tydd & Kings Cliffe, in which they scored 12 and only conceded once. Last weekend they drew 1-1 with league newcomers and expected favorites Weldon. The Harriers are 100% themselves but having conceded 12 goals in their first 4 games, will this be an opposition they can outscore? The boys will be ready and up for the task having lost preseason 4-0 to the same opposition already.

RIPPINGALE & FOLKINGHAM VS WITTERING PREMIAIR B

The B Team returned to winnings ways last weekend quite convincingly. Manager Tom Sargent will be pushing for constancy now as his team try and kick on and improve on their current league position. Rippingale is no easy fixture however as the team are unbeaten after their first 4 games.

20201001125955.jpg

WITTERING PREMIAIR VETS VS FC PETERBOROUGH VETS

The Vets kick start their campaign in high spirits and confidence. The squad is similar to last year with a couple of Premiair stalwart additions who have now reached the qualifying age. FC Peterborough will be keen to seek revenge after a loss against the boys last year.

Week 4

PINCHBECK UNITED RESERVES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR

Should have probably looked more closely at the fixtures before pointing this particular fact out each week but for the now 4th week running our 1st's face a 1st competitive league fixture against their opposition, Pinchbeck Reserves. Little is known of the opposition this week, however what we do know is they will come prepared, well drilled and hungry to win. The Harriers are quickly becoming the team to beat in division 1 but with a couple key injuries to Cayley's men and a few carrying knocks, Sam will be looking to his forward line to fire themselves to another victory.

WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES VS FARECT UTD

After last weekends disappointing last minute postponement, the Reserves are keen and looking forward to return to the pitch. The still unbeaten Reserves face a someone revenge match after being humiliated by this weekends opposition in pre-season 5-1. Another tough match on paper and the reserves are without GK Andrew Fowler and in form James Ould but have added to the squad this week with the transfers of Ryan Alban & Jamie Rose who both come into this weekends squad. This one really could go either way, a spirited performance needed to ensure the run continues and to keep out the league's top goalscorer Josh Pike.

20200925123813.jpg

DREAMS VS WITTERING PREMIAIR A

Wittering Premiair A's had to work hard last week as they moved to the top of the table. Joe Dobson remains in rich form, bagging a brace which puts him on 8 for the season in just 3 games.Dreams sit mid table after flying out the gates with a 10-2 victory opening day, to then being comfortably beaten by Peterborough City & Weldon Utd since. Cola's men will sure to see this fixture as another must win before a run-in against the other high flyers of the league Stilton, Weldon, Casterton & Stanground.

WITTERING PREMIAIR B VS DREAMS RESERVES

As the our A team face Dreams at Bushfield's our B Team play Dreams Reserves at home. Last weekends depleted squad fought well in their narrow defeat to Deeping Utd. But with a few names returning for this weekends fixture. The Harries will look the end their two game losing run their opposition who are yet to pick up a point in their first 3 opening games.

FIXTURES

Week 3

WITTERING PREMIAIR VS NECI

For the 3rd week running our 1sts face a 1st competitive league fixture against their opposition. NECI like last weeks opponents Rippingale are new into the league after promotion from Division 2 however come with a strong reputation of quality. I see this one as an early 6 pointer as both teams, tipped for successful seasons, will look to show early dominance in the league.

WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES VS WISBECH TOWN RESERVES

The Reserves face another new team to the PDFL this season Wisbech Town. Wisbech have been entered straight in at Division 2 and therefore must host some considerable playing experience and are not to be taken lightly. The Reserves are without 6/7 noticeable players this weekend and with Wisbech boasting an early record of 2/2 it will have to be another superb team performance to keep their own positive run going.

FC PETERBOROUGH RESERVES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR A

The high flying A Team will be keen to keep their early run of maximum points going this weekend. After the release of Octobers fixtures the A Team will be keen to get as many points on the board as possible before some real mouth watering fixtures begin. The two teams faced each other twice last campaign with our boys winning both games 5-3 & 1-3.

DEEPING UNITED RESERVES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR B

The B Team will be keen to put their poor performance and result of last weekend behind them as quick as possible. Deeping also slumped to a heavy defeat last week at the hands of Weldon United, the same team the B's fought excellently to beat first game. If its anything to go by then it should be 3 points back on the board but football can be a funny old game.

FIXTURES

Week 2

RIPPINGALE & FOLKINGHAM VS WITTERING PREMIAIR

Wittering Premiair 1sts will take on newly promoted Rippingale & Folkingham Saturday. Both teams got off to a great start last weekend and whilst very early, in what will be a long season ahead, both sit within the top 4. It’s a first league fixture between the two teams however I cannot oversee the strength of the Harriers being too much for Rippingale and with fire power up top being another 3 points to take back home.

WITTERING PREMIAIR RESERVES VS DEEPING RANGERS RESERVES

The Reserves face a team this Saturday that I strongly tip for the title… Deeping Rangers Reserves. Deeping return to the league after a 2 year absence, in which they applied their trade in the Peterborough Prem division. They’ve recruited well and boast players from clubs such as Thorney, Crowland & Netherton. The Reserves are battle tested after last weekend’s hard fought victory away to Parson Drove however an even stronger performance will be needed Saturday if they’re to come away with anything at all.

FC HAMPTON RESERVES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR A

Wittering Premiair A team find themselves on the road again this Saturday with only a short trip to local Peterborough team FC Hampton Reserves. Last weekend’s score lines for the two clubs were almost carbon copy however Hampton found themselves on the receiving end of a 7-1 thumping against, a strong Casterton. With Joe Dobson netting 5 last weekend vs Tydd Reserves, eyes will be on the striker to see if he’s able to extend his impressive opening day tally.

WITTERING PREMIAIR B VS THORPE WOOD RANGERS RESERVES

Wittering Premiair B team returned from their trip to Corby last weekend with a quite impressive victory against a very reputable team from the Northants league, Weldon United. Thorpe Woods Reserve team are new to the PDFL this season and host a few names I wouldn’t have expected to be playing in the leagues bottom division. They also came away with the spoils in their first match winning 5-3 but if both teams come prepared, it looks to be a close encounter.

SEASON OPENERS

All 4 Saturday teams open their campaigns this weekend. Will they hit the ground running...

WITTERING PREMIAIR VS TYDD

Tydd travel to Wittering having recently been demoted from the leagues top division. The home team will see this one as a chance to get an early 3 points on the board. Tydd however are a relatively unknown outfit and it could be anyone's game.

FC PARSON DROVE RES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR RES

The Reserves find themselves kicking off this seasons campaign in a division below as a result of the merger. Saturdays opposition are fresh from last seasons promotion in division 3. With many of the team seeking pastures new and lots of new faces coming in, eyes will be on Saturdays game to see how the new team settles.

TYDD RES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR A

As Tydd travel to Wittering our A team find themselves travelling in the opposite direction this Saturday. With much the same squad as last season, the team will look to strengthen on their mid table position of last and look to push this seasons favorites all the way. Having won this fixture twice last season the boys will hope for a similar fate.

WELDON UNITED RES VS WITTERING PREMIAIR B

Finally our B team kick their season of in division 5 to a new team in the PDFL Weldon United Reserves. The team are hoping the long trip to Corby doesn't play a factor however a decent pre-season by the team, puts them in good spirits ahead of the trip.
